The Twitter CEO Elon Musk’s recent announcement, that the firm will set a daily limit on the amount of posts users can read has sparked a meme frenzy on the website. Users have not only posted hilarious jokes on Mr. Musk’s latest announcement but also vented frustration over the bizarre proposal.
According to the executive chairman of Twitter, verified accounts are strictly limited to reading 6,000 posts per day, unverified accounts to reading 600 posts per day, and new unverified accounts to reading 300 posts per day.
He had previously expressed his displeasure with companies using Twitter’s data to train their huge language models, such as OpenAI, the owner of ChatGP
The social media site had already made several actions to win back advertisers that had left Twitter under Mr. Musk’s ownership and to increase subscription revenue by including verification checkmarks in the Twitter Blue program.
Many responded by saying it goes against Twitter’s principles.
“This Rate Limit exceeded issue is just nonsense. It goes against everything Twitter was intended to be” one user commented.
“He’s going to set fire to an app he owned. Remove this s*** rate limit, please,” tweeted one more.
“Excellent, perhaps it’s time to leave. Twitter’s view cap is terrible!” Another user made a comment.
