The debris of a ship that drowned during a snowstorm 130 years ago has finally been located.
Discovered at the time of its disappearance in 1895, the mystery ship 'Africa' was coated in an alien invasive type of mussels.
When it vanished, it was pulling the Severn, another ship, across Lake Huron near the US-Canada border.
ship's crew was saved, but 'Africa' was never seen again until recently.
While recording the documentary, Yvonne Drebert and Zach Melnick encountered "Africa" for the first time, but they were baffled by its state.
He added that after a few minutes of being underwater, a massive structure—a shipwreck—rose up out of the water.
It was unbelievable to us. Many expletives were spoken and everyone on board was in disbelief!
The ship appears to have fallen straight from the surface and is resting on the bottom of the lake, but it is actually in perfect condition and is positioned upright.
At a depth of 280 feet, the Africa was located with the use of an underwater remotely operated vehicle.
However, it was difficult to identify the ship because it was now covered in invasive quaggas that had entered the Great Lakes thirty years earlier.
