India is now the first nation to land on the moon close to the lunar south pole, and the fourth country overall.

To honour this momentous occasion, the Indian government has designated August 23 of each year as National Space Day.

The ISRO is developing the lunar lander and rover project Chandrayaan 3.

It is the third of ISRO's moon exploration missions under the Chandrayaan programme.
