On Wednesday, Hyundai Motor Company made waves by releasing a teaser image of its upcoming Ioniq 9, an all-electric sports utility vehicle (SUV) that showcases a striking design and spacious three-row seating.
The image reveals the vehicle’s sleek silhouette and extended wheelbase, emphasizing its modern aesthetics.
Inspired by the elegance of maritime design, the Ioniq 9 aims to combine stylish exteriors with comfortable interiors reminiscent of boats, according to reports from Yonhap news agency.
This model represents Hyundai’s largest entry in the Ioniq lineup and marks the company’s debut in the large electric SUV market.
Enthusiasts can anticipate a complete reveal of the Ioniq 9’s features and design at a global event scheduled for next month.
In addition to the excitement surrounding the Ioniq 9, Hyundai celebrated a significant achievement in its manufacturing journey, reaching a remarkable milestone of 100 million vehicles produced worldwide.
This accomplishment comes just 57 years after the company’s inception.
Hyundai commemorated the milestone with a handover ceremony for the 100 millionth vehicle, an Ioniq 5, delivered directly to a customer.
Chang Jae-hoon, President & CEO of Hyundai Motor stated, “Reaching global cumulative production of 100 million vehicles is a meaningful milestone that was possible thanks to our customers around the world who have chosen and supported Hyundai Motor since the very beginning.”
The Ulsan Plant, which opened in 1968, is pivotal in the history of the South Korean automotive industry, serving as a primary site for vehicle production and innovation.
Currently, Hyundai is enhancing its focus on electrification by developing a dedicated electric vehicle (EV) facility at this plant.
Hyundai’s rapid growth has however solidified its position among global automakers, with a production network that extends to Turkey, India, the United States, and the Czech Republic.
The company previously celebrated surpassing 50 million vehicles manufactured in 2013, highlighting its expanding global footprint and commitment to automotive excellence.
