Tutor’s boyfriend kills student, then sends ransom note with ‘Allahu Akbar’ to deviate cops

The accused was suspicious of the victim being in relationship with his girlfriend which ignited him to kill the teenager.

In Kanpur, Uttar Pradesh, a 17-year-old boy was allegedly killed by his teacher’s boyfriend, according to police on Tuesday. To make it seem like a kidnapping, the accused even sent the victim’s family a ransom note.

When police discovered the Class 10 student’s body at his residence, they arrested the accused, Prabhat Shukla.

The boy’s tuition teacher Rachita and her boyfriend Prabhat Shukla have been taken into custody by the police. Aryan, another man, has also been taken into custody.

The accused was suspicious of the victim being in relationship with his girlfriend which ignited him to kill the teenager.

The victim was the son of a well-known Kanpur cloth merchant. According to his family, he rode his scooter out of the house in the evening to attend coaching classes and never came back.

Subsequently, a man wearing a cloth over his face came up to their house on a scooter and left a letter requesting Rs 30 lakh as ransom for their son’s safe return.

“Allah Hu Akbar” and “Allah par vishwas rakho” (have faith in Allah) were written on the letter. The ransom letter, according to the police, was a ploy to deflect attention from the investigation.

Police discovered through CCTV that the boy voluntarily escorted Shukla to a store room. Shukla informed the boy that he was called by his teacher at that place.

According to the police narrative of the incident, Shukla and the boy can be seen going into the room together in the footage.

But a few minutes later, the boy remained inside the storeroom while Shukla came out. After changing into a new outfit, the accused was observed riding off on the boy’s scooter, according to the police.

In the meantime, it has been reported that Rachita has admitted to her role in the crime and disclosed that her boyfriend Prabhat Shukla wrote the ransom letter.

The relationship between the teacher and the student seems to have played a role in the murder’s motivation. Currently, further investigation is underway.
