The Savita Institute of Medical and Technical Sciences (SIMATS), Chennai, has awarded the Lifetime Achievement Award to Dr Raju Narayana Swamy, a senior IAS officer widely celebrated for his anti-corruption work in Kerala.

The multidisciplinary university, accredited with an A++ grade by NAAC and ranked 13th among all Indian universities in the NIRF 2025 list, selected him for the honour in recognition of his decades-long commitment to transparency, ethical governance and public welfare.

India recognises Dr Swamy for his unrelenting fight against corruption, and he has led several high-profile interventions in public administration.

He recently made headlines for completing a record 38 assignments as Central Observer for the Election Commission of India. One of these included serving as an International Observer during the 2018 Zimbabwe elections.

His integrity-driven career has earned him multiple prestigious accolades. In 2021, he received the Leonardo da Vinci Fellowship from the Centre for Intellectual Property and Innovation Policy at George Mason University for his contribution to intellectual property scholarship.

Earlier, in 2018, IIT Kanpur honoured him with the Satyendra K Dubey Memorial Award for his anti-corruption initiatives.

A Scholar and Innovator in Governance

Dr Swamy’s academic achievements stand out as prominently as his administrative record. An IIT Madras alumnus with a B Tech in Computer Science and Engineering, he also holds a PhD in Law from Gujarat National Law University.

His academic pursuits include an LLM from NLU Delhi and a PG Diploma from the National Law School, Bangalore, both awarded with gold medals.

He is also a Homi Bhabha Fellow in cyber law, joining the ranks of renowned scholars such as Tanu Padmanabhan. His interdisciplinary expertise has contributed to his leadership in policy implementation across rural development, health and education.

Dr Swamy has actively promoted citizen engagement, digital governance, and accountability throughout his administrative career.

His proactive use of technology has strengthened transparency in public systems and influenced governance models across the state.

Dr Swamy currently serves as Principal Secretary to the Government of Kerala. He continues to play a pivotal role in shaping policy and advancing public sector innovation.
