With changing times, there has been a lot of change in the methods of both cooking and eating food. At one time, utensils made of clay, steel or aluminum were mostly used for cooking. But, nowadays cooking in non-stick utensils has become fashionable. Food does not stick in these utensils and you can cook things with less oil, hence in recent times non-stick utensils have started being used in almost all the houses. But, is cooking food in these utensils good for health? Let us tell you that the Indian Council of Medical Research i.e. ICMR has recently issued dietary guidelines. In which many information related to food and drink has been included. It also gives information about cooking in non-stick pans. According to ICMR guidelines, cooking in non-stick utensils should certainly be easy and convenient. But, this is not good from health point of view. The chemicals used in the production of non-stick coatings release toxic fumes when heated at high temperatures. Therefore, it is better to avoid them as it can cause thyroid, respiratory problems and cancer.

ICMR has said that for cooking, earthen utensils are the safest. Cooking, eating and storing food in earthen utensils, all three are beneficial for health. These increase the nutrition in the food and at the same time, the taste of the food also increases.
