Delhi Liqour Policy Scam: Court Extends Judicial Custody Of Manish Sisodia Till May 31

Manish Sisodia was presented in Rouse Avenue Court today through video conferencing in the money laundering case related to Delhi liquor scam case.

Rouse Avenue Court has extended the judicial custody of former Delhi Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia till May 31 in Delhi Liqour Policy Scam. Manish Sisodia has received a blow from the lower court at a time when the Delhi High Court is going to give its verdict on Sisodia’s bail plea today i.e. on Tuesday evening itself.

Actually, Manish Sisodia was presented in Rouse Avenue Court today through video conferencing in the money laundering case related to Delhi liquor scam case. Rouse Avenue Court asked Manish Sisodia and other accused to explain in writing how much time will be taken to verify the non-essential documents? After this the court extended the judicial custody of Manish Sisodia till 31 May. Now the next hearing of the case will be on May 31 at 12 noon.

It is important to mention here that Manish Sisodia has filed bail petitions in Delhi High Court in both ED and CBI cases. Delhi High Court will give its verdict on his bail plea at 5 pm today. On May 14, the High Court had reserved its order on the petitions after hearing arguments from Aam Aadmi Party leader Manish Sisodia as well as CBI and ED. Manish Sisodia is arrested in both the cases and is lodged in Tihar jail under judicial custody.

What is Delhi Liquor Scam Case?

The Delhi Liquor Scam Case pertains to alleged corruption and money laundering in the formulation and implementation of the Delhi Government’s liquor policy for the year 2021-22, which was later cancelled. Delhi Lieutenant Governor VK Saxena had recommended a CBI inquiry into the alleged irregularities in the formulation and implementation of the liquor policy. After this, ED had registered a case under money laundering. Later, on the basis of ED’s FIR, CBI also registered a case in the same matter. Apart from Manish Sisodia, Sanjay Singh and Arvind Kejriwal have also been arrested in this case.
