The Delhi-NCR air quality index has dropped to “severe” a few days before Diwali. In light of this, all public and elementary schools in the nation’s capital were instructed to stay closed on November 3 and 4. Currently, Delhi Education Minister Aitishi has declared that all primary schools will be closed till November 10 due to the high pollution levels. For students in grades six through twelve, schools may switch to online classes, the minister continued.
“As pollution levels continue to remain high, primary schools in Delhi will stay closed till 10th November. For Grade 6-12, schools are being given the option of shifting to online classes,” the minister posted on X.
Due to the increasing levels of air pollution, Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal declared on Thursday that all public and private elementary schools in the capital city would be closed for the next two days, on Thursday and Friday.
“All Pre School, Pre Primary & Primary classes (i.e. Nursery to class V) in physical form are ordered to discontinue on 03.11.2023 & 04.11.2023 (i.e. Friday & Saturday). Teachers of these classes shall conduct classes in Online mode. Inform the parents of students of the above classes immediately,” the order read.
