Special Session Of Parliament
On Monday at 6:30 p.m., Prime Minister Narendra Modi will be holding a meeting of the Union Cabinet. As the special session of Parliament was starting, the announcement was made. The Parliament Annexe building will serve as the venue for the meeting.
Although the meeting’s agenda has not yet been made public, it is anticipated that the important bills that are scheduled for consideration during the special session will likely be discussed.
Minister of Union Parliamentary Affairs Pralhad Joshi has declared that eight bills will be discussed during the five-day special session.
Among them are the Advocates (Amendment) Bill of 2023, the Press and Registration of Periodicals Bill of 2023, the Post Office Bill of 2023, the Chief Election Commissioner and other Election Commissioners (Appointment, Conditions of Service and Term of Office) Bill of 2023, a bill on the welfare of senior citizens, and three bills pertaining to the SC/ST order.
Additionally, it is anticipated that the government may make unexpected changes.
The ‘One Nation, One Election’ bill and a potential resolution to rename India as Bharat were two topics that were rumoured to be discussed in the special session of Parliament. There hasn’t been any official statement in this regard, though.
Starting today, a special session of Parliament will last through September 22. Parliament functioning will be shifted to the new building form Tuesday.
