A Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) MLA in Pune, Maharashtra slapped a police constable who was on duty, according to police on Saturday. An offence has been registered against him according to PTI. A video of the incident that happened on Friday at Sassoon General Hospital in Pune’s Cantonment constituency, in which legislator Sunil Kamble hit an on-duty constable, went viral on social media.

MLA charged under these IPC sections
According to an official, Kamble has been charged under section 353 of the Indian Penal Code, which prohibits using force or assault to prevent a public servant from performing their duties, in response to a complaint made by the constable. Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar was present at a program held at the Sassoon General Hospital.
Kamble denied the allegations
After the event, Kamble can be seen on camera descending the stairs and slapping a man who got in his way. According to the official, the individual was an on-duty constable from the Bundgarden police station. However, Kamble denied the allegations and said, “I did not assault anyone. I was coming down the steps when someone came in the way. I pushed him and went ahead.”
