On PM Modi’s upcoming state visit to the USA, India’s Permanent Representative to the UN, Ruchira Kamboj said,”The Prime Minister will be paying respect to the bust of Mahatma Gandhi that now proudly adorns the North Lawn of the UN Headquarters, where yoga will also be conducted.”

“PM Modi gave this mission and it was his leadership that ensured that June 21 is celebrated as International Yoga Day every year. Now ‘Yoga Day’ is a UN-mandated occasion, so the coming together of the two – the visionary leader and the UN, is in itself very unique,” she further added.

Since 2014 Modi has visited US six times during the tenure of Barack Obama, Donald Trump, and Joe Biden, but this state visit is a bit different as it is reserved for the America’s closest allies and friends.
