On Thursday, Haryana’s Panipat police said that three women were allegedly raped by four unidentified men in front of their family members.
The incident happened late on Wednesday, according to the police, who also stated that the suspects had knives and other sharp-edged weapons.
Invading the home where the families lived, the four men tied the family members of the three female labourers with ropes and then raped them.
According to police, the accused also stole their jewellery and cash.
An elderly woman was attacked and killed while her husband was robbed in a separate incident that also happened late on same Wednesday night about a kilometre from the scene of the gang rape, according to police.
The second incident also took in the victim’s home, therefore the police suspect the involvement of the same assailants behind the incident. They even stole man’s phone and some cash as well.
According to Vijay, the station house officer at the Matlauda police station in Panipat, both incidents happened in the same village.
“An investigation is ongoing… So far, no arrests have been made,” he declared.
