Mayawati
Meerut: Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) national president Mayawati announced in the election rally in the district on Tuesday that Western Uttar Pradesh will be made a separate state if the BSP government is formed. Along with this, she talked about getting the bench of Allahabad High Court built in Meerut. She said that BSP should win the elections by not falling prey to the thin air manifestos of the opposition parties. This will benefit the entire society. Mayawati on Tuesday held a public meeting in Alipur village on Hapur Road in support of BSP candidate from Meerut-Hapur Lok Sabha seat, Devvrat Tyagi. The former Chief Minister said that parties issuing manifestoes out of thin air have to be stopped from coming to power at the Centre. There has been a difference between the words and actions of the opposing parties. In such a situation, in the interest of the state and the country, people should not vote for BJP, Congress, SP and vote for BSP.
“Only through this, the slogan of Sarvajan Hitaya and Sarvajan Sukhay will be realized. Only then all the problems of the country can be solved,” she asserted. Mayawati said that on the lines of the bench in Lucknow, the bench of Allahabad High Court should be constituted in Meerut itself. “Western Uttar Pradesh should be made a separate state. The BSP government had made a proposal and sent it to the Central Government, but the Central Government put it on hold. BSP will make Western Uttar Pradesh a separate state,” she remarked. The BSP chief said that our party is not contesting the elections in alliance with anyone, but on its own strength. Even in the matter of ticket distribution, proper participation has been given to people from all sections of the society.
She said that since independence, most of the power has been with the Congress.
“It was because of the wrong policies of Congress that it had to be ousted from power. Congress’s allies have also been in a similar situation. There is a difference between BJP’s capitalist, communal, casteist and malicious policies, words and actions. If this election is fair and clean and there is no tampering in EVMs then BJP is not going to come to power. None of the old or new theatrics, catchphrases, guarantees etc. of BJP will be of any use in this election. BJP has promised to show good days to the poor, weak, middle class and working people. Those promises have also not been fulfilled,” she claimed.
Mayawati said that instead of this, most of the time and energy of the BJP government has been spent in enriching the favoured capitalists and wealthy people and giving exemptions and protection. “BJP runs its organization only with the support of these capitalists. Like Congress, the central investigating agencies have also become politicized in BJP. Farmers are completely troubled under the BJP government. Full care was taken of the farmers in the BSP government. Farmers were given fair prices for their crops. Higher price was given for sugarcane. There was no economic upliftment of Dalits, tribals, other backward classes and people of minority communities under the Congress and BJP governments. Even the incomplete quota of reservation has not been filled. Reservation in promotion for SC-ST people has also been made ineffective,” she alleged.
Mayawati said that the SP government of UP had also abolished reservation in promotion. “SP does not want SC-ST people to get full benefits of reservation. Don’t waste your vote by voting for such a party. When BSP raised this issue in Parliament, SP tore that bill. Such a party cannot do good to the Dalits and the exploited. The names of districts, universities etc. named after Dalit saints and mahatmas were changed. Most of the government works are being done through the private sector. Due to this work being given to wealthy people, people of SC-ST category are getting very little benefit of reservation. Minorities are being exploited and harassed. The condition of such people is very bad and pathetic. This has been revealed in the Sachar Committee report,” she asserted.
“In many states, the development and upliftment of minorities has stopped under the BJP governments. Minorities are being oppressed in the name of Hindutva. The condition of the poor belonging to forward society is also not good. Farmers are troubled due to wrong agricultural policies. Due to wrong economic policies, the country’s economy is being adversely affected. Small and middle class traders are also troubled by this,” she concluded. Former minister Yakub Qureshi, former MP Munkad Ali, Omprakash Pal, Sunil Tyagi, Devesh Tyagi, Asaram Tyagi were present on the occasion.
