Amroha: Congress’ Lok Sabha candidate for the Amroha seat, Danish Ali, has accused the BSP of acting as the BJP’s B-team in the Lok Sabha elections, alleging that the ruling party has handpicked candidates for the Mayawati-led group. Ali, who switched from the Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) to contest for Congress in Uttar Pradesh’s Amroha, pointed out that Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s recent criticism of him at a political rally in Amroha reflects the PM’s frustration.
“This attack underscores the Prime Minister’s displeasure. He is unhappy with my efforts to expose the administration’s shortcomings on the House floor over the past five years. They (the BJP) do not want a legislator like me to return to the House, which is why they are deploying all their resources against me in the polls,” Ali remarked.
Yogi, the Chief Minister, has visited Amroha for the fourth time in the last two weeks, accompanied by a significant number of BJP leaders. “I consider it a challenge,” Ali remarked.
Modi targeted Congress candidate Ali during a campaign rally in Amroha last week, alleging that he hesitated to recite ‘Bharat Mata ki Jai.’ “Can someone who refuses to say ‘Bharat Mata ki Jai’ be deemed fit to enter the Indian Parliament?” he challenged the audience.
Responding to the Prime Minister’s remarks, Ali stated that neither the BJP nor Narendra Modi have ownership over Bharat Mata. He added that those who failed to raise the tricolour at their ideological headquarters for over 50 years after Independence should refrain from making such statements.
