Ajit Pawar's Uncertain Stance
Ajit Pawar, the deputy chief minister of Maharashtra, has resigned from his position as a director of the Pune District Central Cooperative (PDCC) Bank, the bank announced on Tuesday.
According to the bank’s chairman, Dr. Digambar Durgade, Mr. Pawar made the decision to resign as a director due to increased workload following his appointment as deputy chief minister and increased responsibility within his party.
The bank said in the statement that the leader of the Nationalist Congress Party served as a director since 1991, during which the bank made outstanding progress and rose to become the top cooperative bank in the nation.
The bank’s revenue was 558 crore when Mr. Pawar became a director; today, it is 20,714 crore, according to the statement.
After splitting the NCP led by Sharad Pawar, Ajit Pawar joined the Shiv Sena-BJP government in the state in July of this year.
