52-year-old landlord brutally rapes and murders minor girl, throws body in canal

A 9-year-old girl stayed with her family in North Delhi’s Swaroop Nagar was raped and murdered by a 52-year-old landlord. The police investigated the case and arrested the accused.

A heart-wrenching incident has come to light in Delhi’s Swaroop Nagar. A 9-year-old girl has been brutally murdered after being raped. The girl stayed with her family in North Delhi’s Swaroop Nagar was raped and murdered by a 52-year-old landlord. The accused had thrown the girl’s body into the Munak canal. The police investigated the case and arrested the accused.

The girl was kidnapped on December 12

According to the information received from Delhi Police, the girl was seen sitting in the car of accused on 12 December. On December 17, the accused confessed that he had thrown the girl into the Munak canal. As per the information given by the accused, the police is taking the help of divers to find the body in the canal. However, the body hasn’t been found yet. The search for his body is still going on. Police has registered a case against the accused under sections 364, 302 and 201 of the POCSO Act.

Delhi Women Commission has also taken suo motu cognizance of the matter. It is being told that the girl was kidnapped on December 12 at around 8.30 pm. The accused drove away the girl in his car which was witnessed by some people. After some time since the girl went missing, her family lodged a missing report at Swaroop Nagar police station. When the police registered the case and started the investigation. The girl’s parents work as labourers in a factory and live in a rented house in Swaroop Nagar.

Rape was followed by murder

During police interrogation on December 17, accused Sanjeev Rana revealed that he had raped the girl and then murdered her. Later he threw the body into the canal. Apart from this, with the help of surveillance, it is also being investigated where the accused Sanjeev Rana went after December 12.
