Rain forced the cancellation of both of the Netherlands’ exhibition games. Prior to the game’s cancellation, Australia and the Netherlands each batted for about 23 overs in the first warm-up match. The second game was called off without a bowl of the ball.
The Netherlands is the only Associate country competing in this competition. They made their debut in 1996 and dropped each of their five games. When the score was tied at 374 in the qualifications, they made a statement by defeating West Indies in a super-over.
