The press relations officer for the High Court of Karnataka filed a complaint alleging threats on the lives of multiple judges, in addition to himself, and the Central CEN Crime Police Station in this city has since filed a First Information Report against unidentified suspects, according to police.
On July 14, K Muralidhar filed a complaint. Around 7 PM on July 12, he began receiving messages on the WhatsApp messenger from an international number. His mobile number is the one that the High Court officially gave him.
According to police, the message was written in Hindi, Urdu, and English and allegedly threatened to kill Muralidhar as well as six other High Court judges, including Justices Mohammed Nawaz, HT Narendra Prasad, Ashok G. Nijagannavar (retired), HP Sandesh, K. Natarajan, and B. Veerappa (retired), through a “Dubai gang.”
In addition to the threat, the message provided five questionable cell phone numbers.
The police said that after filing the FIR under Sections 75 and 66(F) of the Information Technology Act as well as Sections 506, 507, and 504 of the Indian Penal Code, they had presented it to the 1st Additional Chief Metropolitan Magistrate Court.
