J-K: Kupwara Police Seizes Pak-Based Properties
On Thursday, the Special Investigation Unit (SIU) of the Kupwara police in Jammu and Kashmir seized properties belonging to a terrorist with ties to Pakistan who had committed “many” terrorist attacks.
Almas Rizwan, a terrorist, is a part of The Resistance Front (TRF), a branch of the Lashkar-e-Taiba terrorist organisation with its base in Pakistan (LeT).
Since moving to Pakistan in the early 1990s, Almas Rizwan Khan, a former resident of Diver Lolab in Kupwara, has posed “a chronic danger to peace and security” in Jammu and Kashmir, a police official claimed.
He claimed Khan had previously been a supporter of Tehreek Jehadi Islami but has since switched to TRF.
“Almas’ strategic involvement in numerous acts of terror has caused immense suffering and loss of innocent lives in the Valley in the past. The Jammu and Kashmir Police has been actively pursuing his acts to bring an end to his destructive activities,” the official said.
The SIU team of the Kupwara Police found and subsequently attached the terrorist’s properties, 26 Kanals and 4 Marlas (3.25 acres) of land spread across three distinct places in Diver Lolab, as a result of thorough investigations and in-depth intelligence collecting.
The official stated that the goal of the action was to “disrupt his criminal network and limit his ability to carry out more acts of terror.”
