Religion Conversion Gang Exposed, Case Registered Against Two in UP

Kanpur: People being transported in two busses for religious conversion by tempting them with a job and Rs. 50,000 a month were stopped by the Nawabganj police station during vehicle checks late on Saturday night. A case has been filed against two persons, including the primary accused in the religious conversion group.

Assistant Police Commissioner Colonelganj Mahesh Kumar stated on Sunday that on Saturday, the police got information from an informant that certain persons were attempting to convert people from economically disadvantaged Kanpur households in the name of money and employment opportunities.

There were also reports that a scheme had been devised to convert individuals by transporting them in two buses to a location in the Unnao district.

To validate this information, police conducted an aggressive vehicle check operation late Saturday night on the Lucknow-Unnao highway. Meanwhile, two buses were carrying passengers to Unnao. When the police became suspicious, they halted both buses and began examining the situation.

The cops pulled everyone off the bus and began interrogating them. During interrogation, Sanjay Valmiki stated that he was heading to a spot in Unnao with all of the destitute people, tempting them with Rs 50,000 per month and offering them a job.

During the interrogation, Sanjay revealed that Simon William and Deepak Morris play the primary roles in this religious conversion drive.

Taking the matter seriously, a case has been registered against Deepak Morris and Simon William in Nawabganj police station under the Uttar Pradesh Conversion Act and legal action has been initiated.
