Nearly 30 People Feared Dead Following A Boat Capsizes In Philippines

Search and rescue operations are still underway in the region

A small boat capsized in a lake near the Philippines capital on Thursday, rescuing approximately 40 passengers while 30 others are feared dead.

According to the Philippine Coast Guard (PCG), the MBCA Princess Aya overturned around 50 yards off Barangay Kalinawan in Binangonan.

The incident occurred around 1 am when the motorized boat was pounded by heavy gusts, forcing passengers to panic and crowd to the port side, causing it to capsize.

The number of people rescued and casualties are still being counted.
