Prime Minister Narendra Modi greeted G20 leaders on Sunday at the rain-soaked Rajghat, where they paid tribute to Mahatma Gandhi.

UN Secretary-General António Guterres, IMF Managing Director Kristalina Georgieva, Bangladesh Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, and Singapore Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong were among the first to arrive at the venue this morning.

Prime Minister Modi welcomed the dignitaries with an angvastram, or stole while standing in front of an image of ‘Bapu Kuti’.

Bapu Kuti is housed at the Sevagram Ashram in Maharashtra, which was Mahatma Gandhi’s home from 1936 until his death in 1948.

The prime minister was seen explaining the meaning of ‘Bapu Kuti’ to the leaders.

Following their homage to the Mahatma, the leaders will sign the ‘Peace Wall’ at the Leaders’ Lounge.
