Prime Minister Narendra Modi paid solemn tributes to Mahatma Gandhi and former Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee ahead of his swearing-in ceremony.

The yatra, a large-scale outreach initiative in advance of the Lok Sabha elections, had started on January 14 in conflict-torn Manipur.

PM Modi said, “Bapu's Sabarmati Ashram has always been a center of wonderful energy. Whenever one gets the opportunity to come here, we can clearly feel Bapu's inspiration within us."
