Metro train speed restriction when crossing the Yamuna bridges has been removed and that all trains are now moving at their regular speed, says Delhi Metro Rail Corporation.
“Speed restriction imposed while crossing Metro bridges over Yamuna has been removed. All trains are running at normal speed now,” tweeted DMRC.
Due to rising water levels DMRC reduced speeds of metro trains crossing four Yamuna bridges earlier.
The Yamuna, which flows through the nation’s capital, dropped to 207.68 though some parts of Delhi are still under water.
This week, the river surpassed its previous record of 207.49 metres set in 1978 by rising to 208.66 metres. As the water began to flood important parts of central Delhi, the Army and the National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) were contacted.
Delhi CM Arvind Kejriwal thanked Army Engineer regiment for tirelessly working for 20 hours to open the ITO barrage. However, BJP leader Amit Malviya criticised Kejriwal who did not do the real work but took the entire credit by tweeting about it.
