Not even 19 rallies and six road shows by PM Narendra Modi could bring the BJP home. Twelve ministers of the outgoing Bommai government failed to save their constituencies.

Shivkumar, seven-time MLA, has won again from Kanakapura with an unprecedented margin whereas Siddaramaiah too has managed to grab his seat in Varuna with good numbers.

"You had gone to every door offering guarantees and promised to fulfill them immediately after coming to power. It's your duty to fulfill them," Yediyurappa said.

BJP utilized all of its top leaders to campaign and even used 'Bajrangbali' to maintain a ground for their support. The Hinduism that seemed to work miraculously for this party most of the time couldn't fetch much for the 'deluxe' leaders who campaigned tirelessly all these months.

The former Prime Minister H D Deve Gowda-led Janata Dal is leading in 30 segments, and others in 5 seats. BJP leader and Chief Minister Basavaraj Bommai (Shiggaon) and Congress State unit President D K Shivakumar (Kanakapura) were leading in their respective seats. 

In the first six hours of polling, which began at 7 am and will go on till 6 pm.

 Sources said that he met around 430 people on the last day of his campaign on Sunday while, A day earlier, he interacted with nearly 450 people.
