Fissures In Janata Dal (Secular) Over Alliance With BJP

The Karnataka unit of JDS has openly urged the party supremo and former Prime Minister to refrain from allying  with Bharatiya Janata Party.

It’s election season now and with this question of forming alliances and revolts against forming alliances coming up very often. The other day former Prime Minister H. D. Deve Gowda has announced that his party Janata Dal (Secular) will be joining the National Democratic Alliance (NDA) for the upcoming Lok Sabha elections. Today, the Karnataka unit of JDS has openly urged the party supremo and former Prime Minister to refrain from allying  with Bharatiya Janata Party.

The Karnataka unit of JDS president and the former Union Minister C. M. Ibrahim  has openly defied the former Prime Minister by saying that as the state unit chief of the party he has the right to make decisions and stated that many leaders are quitting the party primarily due to alliance with the BJP.

“We will decide with whom we will form an alliance except the BJP. There are only two options –  INDIA, and  NDA. We will hold discussions and make our independent decisions for Karnataka.” said Ibrahim.

The decision to ally with BJP  has irked the Kerala unit of the Janata Dal (Secular). They are a part of the ruling LDF and said allying with BJP won’t be tolerated at any cost.
