At least 12 killed in a blaze that took place in a firecracker shop in Karnataka. According to the police, the incident took place on Saturday. Naveen, the owner of the shop located in Attibele near the Karnataka-Tamil Nadu border were off loading cracker boxes from a truck when, suddenly, one of the boxes caught fire. With the presence of other inflamable materials the fire soon spread in his shop.

Five fire brigades were rushed to the spot and when the fire was finally brought under control the firefighters recovered several dead bodies. It was found that 5 dead were from Dharmapuri district of Tamil Nadu. Apart from the deaths, eight were seriously injured. Traffic services on the road were also affected as a result.
It is being suspected that apart from the five identified more people can be from Tamil Nadu.

Every year deaths due to firecracker blaze do happen in Karnataka and Tamil Nadu. No actions are being taken by the government or the administration. The solution lies in the fact that the business of firecrackers be banned altogether. Courts in the nation are calling for the usage of those crackers whose sound is less than 65 decibels. But it has been found that several crackers do emit sound more than that. Now the question arises as to when the adequate steps will actually be taken.
