Arvind Kejriwal

Aam Aadmi Party protestors were detained outside Patel Chowk metro station on Tuesday. They were protesting against the arrest of Delhi CM Arvind Kejriwal.

The Aam Aadmi Party on Tuesday called for a "gherao" at Prime Minister Narendra Modi's residence. The protest came amid the arrest of Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal in the liquor policy case. Security around PM Modi's residence at Lok Kalyan Marg has been increased.

AAP had dismissed these allegations yesterday, with party sources suggesting that the investigation is biased, being conducted with a political agenda from the BJP office.

Delhi Minister and AAP leader Atishi said that they have resolved not to play with colours and celebrate Holi this year. She appealed to the countrymen to join them in the fight against cruelty and evil.

Delhi Congress chief Arvinder Singh Lovely said,“Democracy is in danger. Our leader (Congress MP) Rahul Gandhi is fighting to save democracy. We are standing strong with the partners of INDIA alliance.”

Earlier petitions sought to annul all proceedings, including ED summonses, citing Kejriwal's role as a vocal critic of the ruling party, an opposition leader, and a member of the INDIA bloc.

AAP raised concerns over the alleged sealing of their Delhi office, calling for intervention from the Election Commission to ensure fair play during the ongoing Lok Sabha elections.

Kejriwal has filed a petition with the Delhi High Court challenging both his arrest and the trial court's March 22, 2024, decision of remand.

Rai further outlined plans, stating that “all people of Delhi” would gather at the Prime Minister's residence for a ‘gherao’.

Despite being unable to proceed further, the protestors disrupted traffic for a period, chanting slogans against the Narendra Modi-led central government.
