AAP Leaders Detained, BJP Demands Kejriwal’s Resignation

Detained protestors included Punjab Minister and AAP leader Harjot Singh Bains.

Deputy Commissioner of Police, Devesh Kumar Mahla said, “We have not granted any permission for the protest. Sufficient deployments are made outside the PM residence and Patel Chowk metro station to maintain law and order.”

“We have also deployed paramilitary personnel in anti-riot gear,” he added.

According to the DMRC, gate no 3 of Patel Chowk Metro Station and gate no 5 of Central Secretariat Metro Station will also remain closed till further notice.

Meanwhile, the BJP also held a protest in the national capital demanding the resignation of Kejriwal as CM.

BJP leader Manjinder Singh Sirsa said, “They want to divert the attention from the alcohol scam. Arvind Kejriwal is doing drama from the ED custody.”

“A corrupt like Arvind Kejriwal cannot be the CM. He has to resign,” he added.

On Tuesday, BJP hit the streets from Feroz Shah Kotla Stadium to Delhi Secretariat via ITO. Police however used water cannons at the BJP workers during their protest march towards the Secretariat.

Meanwhile, Delhi BJP President Virendraa Sachdeva was detained during the party’s protest demanding the resignation of CM Arvind Kejriwal.

The ED arrested Kejriwal on March 21 night in connection with the Delhi Excise Policy case linked to a money laundering case. Arvind Kejriwal was on March 22, remanded to the custody of the ED for 7 days, till 28 March 28.

Two senior AAP leaders, Manish Sisodia and Sanjay Singh, are in judicial custody in the excise policy case.
