Lucknow : On Monday, Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath took potshots at Congress leader Rahul Gandhi, saying the politician, who described himself as an accidental Hindu, should talk about great Hindu rulers and the demolition of temples in Ayodhya, Kashi, and Mathura by Mughal emperors.
Adityanath responded to the Congress’s objections to the Citizenship (Amendment) Act (CAA) by claiming that it is a humanitarian matter and that the opposition party’s criticism is motivated by “pressure” from extreme forces. Gandhi makes unfounded remarks because he lacks awareness of India’s history and geography, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader told reporters here. He stated that Rahul Gandhi’s bogus remarks continue to be debated.
Adityanath stated that the person who described himself as an accidental Hindu will seem ridiculous if he discusses India’s history and culture. Gandhi could have highlighted famous Hindu kings such as Chandragupta Maurya, Ashoka, Maharaja Bhoj, Prithviraj Chauhan, Chhatrapati Shivaji, and Jhansi ki Rani, among others, who helped shape India, he added.
Adityanath further stated that Gandhi had forgotten about the horrors inflicted by Mughal monarchs during the medieval period.
He should have said who was responsible for demolishing temples in Ayodhya, Kashi, and Mathura, according to the chief minister, adding that the Congress leader should also have mentioned those who were guilty for previous damage at Nalanda and Takshila universities.
