In a shocking event in Sangrur, Punjab, on Monday, August 7, a man brutally murdered his wife in an open and crowded area in broad day light. She was repeatedly attacked by the accused with an axe leading her death on the spot. The accused attempted suicide by ingesting poison after killing his wife and also hurt himself in the process.
After being informed, the local police arrived at the crime site and took both of them to a hospital nearby, where doctor declared the woman dead. The accused is receiving medical attention and his condition is currently stable according to sources.
A case has been filed in this matter, and an investigation is underway. To find out what caused the tragedy, the police is having a conversation with deceased’s family members.
The horrifying incident took place in the broad day light and was witnessed by several people. In an effort to protect the woman, the nearby people even pelted stones, water, and wooden blocks at the accused, but the man continued hitting his wife.
As per the police, the husband and wife’s relationship was not good, and a divorce case was going on between the two. It is speculated that it is the divorce which is the main reason behind the incident. A nearby CCTV camera recorded the entire episode, and the footage later went popular on social media. The accused is seen in the video hitting his wife with an axe, which briefly caused a commotion in the market.
