For the first time, a woman has been appointed Vice Chancellor in Aligarh Muslim University. Professor Naima Khatoon has been made the new Vice Chancellor of AMU. This is the first time in the history of the university that a woman has been appointed to this post.
The panel had approved the name of Naima Khatoon
A panel was constituted by the university to appoint the Vice Chancellor. Professor Naima Khatoon was also included in this panel. The panel had recommended her name after which she was appointed the new VC of AMU.
Begum Sultan became the first Chancellor
It is noteworthy that Aligarh Muslim University was established in December 1920 when Begum Sultan became its Chancellor. Whereas Raja Mohammad Ali Mohammad Khan of Mahmudabad was made the Vice Chancellor. Earlier, no woman’s name was included in the Vice Chancellor’s panel.
