PM Modi slams Congress for tax raids at MP premises in Odisha-Jharkhand, 100 crore cash seized

Following tax raids in Odisha and Jharkhand that resulted in the seizure of millions of rupees in cash at one of the party’s MPs, Prime Minister Narendra Modi slammed the Congress party on Friday.

Taking to X, the Prime Minister said, “The countrymen should look at the pile of these notes and then listen to the honest ‘speeches’ of their leaders.”

PM said, “Whatever has been looted from the public, every penny will have to be returned, this is Modi’s guarantee.”

The Income Tax Department seized cash worth over Rs 100 crore during raids at locations connected to Rajya Sabha MPs. The recoveries came from various Odisha locations.

As of the time this report was written on Wednesday, December 6, the raids were still in progress.

According to sources of Income Tax Department, raids on locations connected to the Boudh Distillery Private Limited in Odisha, where the money was recovered, are expected to continue.

As of Friday, during the raid at Sudapada in the Bolangir district, department officials had found over 150 bags containing cash.

Former IT commissioner Sarat Chandra Dash told news agency PTI that this might be the biggest cash seizure made by the income tax department in Odisha to date.

“I have never come across the recovery of such a huge amount of cash in the state,” Dash stated.
