“People Are Not Thrilled About Voting,” Asserts Farmer Activist Naresh Tikait

Polling in eight Lok Sabha seats in western Uttar Pradesh, including Muzaffarnagar, began on Friday in the first round.

Muzaffarnagar: Farmer politician Naresh Tikait raised scepticism on Friday about the BJP’s assertion that the NDA had crossed 400 seats, claiming that “there is no excitement among people” about the elections.

“If they claim 400, why should they run for office? It’s remarkable that they can predict this in advance. Do they have an astrologer who has prophesied that this will happen?” remarked Tikait, the national head of the Bhartiya Kisan Union (BKU).

Polling in eight Lok Sabha seats in western Uttar Pradesh, including Muzaffarnagar, began on Friday in the first round. “People express their emotions via their votes. However, voting is sluggish and will continue till the evening. People are not excited; they are disillusioned. Also, elections are being held in numerous phases… polls should be done in a single phase, with results announced on the third day and (new government) oath-taking taking place within the following four to five days, he proposed. There is an emergency scenario in the country.” Tikait went on to say that these are the topics of public discussion.

People in this area dislike slavery.he Tre could be a territory, state, or seat that supports slavery. People are protesting against slavery by not voting. The period of booth capture is ended… everyone is screaming about the machine, so why are the polls not being held on ballot papers? 90-95 percent of people oppose the machine (EVM).” Tikait said that it is a machine that may be tampered with.

When asked about payments to sugarcane growers, Tikait stated that they saw the payments as a courtesy. “Are they offering it for free? Have we not given them our sugarcane? The farmers now feel tricked and have lost everything. Farmers are sad,” he concluded.
