Nuh Violence: Curfew To Be Removed As Haryana Getting Back To Normal, Banks Will Open, ATM Withdrawl Permitted

On July 31, violence happened in Haryana’s Nuh, promptin the imposition of curfew. People were forced to stay indoors after a mob attempted to block a Vishva Hindu Parishad procession.

On Monday, a week after clashes, the curfew will be removed for public movement from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. (four hours). The curfew was relaxed for three hours on Saturday, from 12 p.m. to 3 p.m.

Banks will be open for 5 hours (10 a.m. to 3 p.m.) on Monday in Nuh, Tauru, Punhana, Ferozepur Jhirka, Pingawan, and municipal corporation districts. ATM withdrawals are permitted for three hours (11 a.m. to 2 p.m.). On August 7, government offices will also be open.

On Sunday, free bus services were provided to CET examination centers in five districts: Kurukshetra, Panchkula, Karnal, Hisar, and Panipat. This will also be operational on August 7.

People in need of medical assistance or in an emergency may be granted permission to move during curfew hours by the concerned Sub-divisional Magistrate (SDM). They will be issued curfew passes for the same reason.

Haryana’s government has suspended mobile internet services in Nuh until August 8. On July 31, a mob attacked a Vishva Hindu Parishad (VHP) procession at the Nalhar temple in Nuh, Haryana.

The unrest quickly extended to Gurugram and other areas throughout the state. During the violence 6 people were killed, including two home guards and a clergyman, and 88 others were injured.

A crowd went on a rampage in Gurugram, targeting mosques and torching over a hundred vehicles, stores, and buildings.

According to authorities, 216 persons have been arrested in connection with the communal violence, and around 104 cases have been filed. Police are also keeping an eye on social media profiles.

Following the unrest, the Nuh district administration in Haryana launched a bulldozer operation against “illegal” building, which is now in its fourth day.

Around two dozen medical stores and other businesses were destroyed in Nuh on Saturday. On Friday, numerous houses in Nalhar were demolished along the path where the VHP march was attacked earlier this week.

The Haryana government bulldozed migrant shanties in Tauru, 20 kilometers from violence-stricken Nuh, on Thursday for infringing on government territory.
