Indresh Kumar, a senior Pracharak of Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh and chief patron of Muslim Rashtriya Manch, emphasized the inclusive nature of Indian identity, stating, “Muslims are integral to the fabric of our nation, rejecting notions of being mere tenants or outsiders. We share the same DNA, with 99% of Muslims having ancestral ties to this land.” This assertion was conveyed by Shahid Saeed, the media in-charge of the forum.
Kumar stressed that Muslims do not lay claim to exclusive rights over the country’s resources, advocating for equal access for all citizens. Speaking at an Eid Milan function organized by the Muslim Rashtriya Manch at the Satyagraha Mandap of Gandhi Darshan, Kumar urged unity beyond religious lines, emphasizing a shared Hindustani identity rooted in humanity and love, echoing the teachings of revered figures like the Prophet and Imam-e-Hind. He affirmed that being Muslim does not negate one’s Indianness, highlighting the need to transcend religious divisions.
Furthermore, Kumar criticized former Prime Minister Manmohan Singh’s divisive remarks, asserting that religious diversity should be embraced as a symbol of respect rather than a source of discord. He emphasized the importance of fostering a sense of national unity, envisioning a India free from strife, discrimination, and hunger.
In response to Mamata Banerjee’s contentious remarks regarding saffronization, Kumar cautioned against using extremist language, advocating for truthfulness and moderation in public discourse. Rejecting comparisons to Western models, Kumar underscored India’s unique cultural heritage, emphasizing the nation’s commitment to human values over emulation.
Kumar also called for prudence in political rhetoric, urging leaders like Rahul Gandhi to refrain from divisive statements. He urged leaders to exercise wisdom and promote harmony, especially in the context of social justice and inclusivity.
Among the attendees at the Eid Milan program were prominent figures such as Chief Imam Umer Ilyasi, Shahid Akhtar, Mohsin Chaudhary, Mohammad Zakir, Firoz Bakht, Dr. MU Rabbani, Shenaz Ganai, Firdous Baba, Shahida Parveen Ganguly, Shams Iqbal, Mohammad Shamshad, Siraj Qureshi, and various convenors of the Muslim Rashtriya Manch, alongside a diverse assembly of workers and intellectuals from across the nation.
