On Saturday, Milind Deora announced his resignation from the Congress party. Deora verified the development, he wrote on X, “Today marks the conclusion of a significant chapter in my political journey.”
Taking to X, he further wrote, “I have tendered my resignation from the primary membership of Congress, ending my family’s 55-year relationship with the party. “I am grateful to all leaders, colleagues & karyakartas for their unwavering support over the years.”
Deora denied the fact of him joining the Shiv Sena faction led by CM Eknath Shinde by calling them rumours.
Deora told reporters that he is having talks with his supporters, despite having recently voiced his disapproval over the Shiv Sena (Uddhav Balasaheb Thackeray) staking a claim to the Mumbai South Lok Sabha constituency.
The Congress leader is not happy about the Uddhav Thackeray-led group’s claim to run in the upcoming general elections for the Mumbai South constituency, which Deora represented before 2014. Deora stated in a video statement released on Sunday that his party would also be able to announce candidates for seats if the “alliance partner” continued to make such claims.
