A man was detained by Bengaluru police for allegedly posting morphed images of his live-in partner on different social media platforms. The police claim that the man found “pleasure” in reading the comments on the uploaded pictures of her girlfriend.
Sanjay Kumar, 26, has been identified as the accused. His 24-year-old girlfriend and he have been living together for some time. The Vellore, Tamil Nadu-born couple had been dating since they were in class ten, and they had wedding plans.
The woman and Sanjay Kumar reported the incident to the police, claiming that someone had posted their private photos on Telegram and Instagram, among other social media sites.
According to senior police officer, a case was filed based on the complaint under section 420 of the India Penal Code (Cheating and dishonestly inducing delivery of property) and other pertinent sections of the Information Technology Act.
As part of the investigation, the investigators asked the relevant social media sites to remove those images and sought information about the alleged account holder who uploaded the images online.
He added that after further investigation, it was discovered that her boyfriend had actually posted them.
After being arrested, the suspect admitted to the crime while being questioned.
