The leader of the Janata Dal (Secular), HD Kumaraswamy, asserted on Sunday that there are problems within the Karnataka government of Chief Minister Siddaramaiah’s Congress party because a state minister might defect to the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP).
In addition, the former Karnataka chief minister asserted that 50–60 Congress members might also defect to the BJP.
“A minister from the Congress could join the BJP if 50–60 Congress MLAs support them. The government of Karnataka may soon fall. Anything is possible. In Hassan, Karnataka, HD Kumaraswamy told reporters, “No one has any honesty and loyalty left in them.”
When asked to identify the leader, Kumaraswamy responded that only “influential” people were capable of such actions and that it would be unrealistic to expect a small leader to take such a “audacious” step.
State Chief Minister Siddaramaiah said that BJP and JD(S) are nothing but in illusion about his government’s fall. He stated, “”BJP and JD(S) are struggling like fish out of water, they are in a state of illusion, what to do?”
Siddaramaiah said, “Each year, we consistently increase funds for the minorities department within our government. We have decided to allocate Rs 4,000 crore for the minorities department. The previous government reduced the funds allocated for minorities, but I have increased it again this year since our government came into power.”
Responding to Siddaramaiah’s statement JD(S) chief HD Kumaraswamy said he has made such statements wherever he went. Kumaraswamy further added that he Siddaramaiah is indulged in “appeasement politics and no development has been done in last 6 months. ”
