 Delhi was covered with thick fog and poor visibility due to the persistent cold weather on Tuesday. Numerous cities in the nearby states of Punjab, Uttar Pradesh, and Haryana experienced the same circumstances.
India Meteorological Department (IMD) posted on X that, “Very dense fog in isolated pockets of northwest Rajasthan; dense fog in isolated pockets of East Uttar Pradesh; moderate fog in isolated pockets of Punjab, Haryana and West UP and shallow fog in isolated pockets of Delhi”. On Tuesday morning, a heavy layer of fog covered many areas of Delhi, including Janpath Road, Aruna Asaf Ali Marg, and Nirankari Colony.
According to the IMD news release, the national capital’s minimum temperature recorded was at 11.4 degrees Celsius and its maximum temperature to stay around 22 degrees Celsius.
The fog continued to hamper flight operations. On X, Delhi Airport said, “While landings and take-offs continue at Delhi Airport, flights that are not CAT III complaint may get affected. passengers are requested to contact the airline concerned for updated information. Any inconvenience caused is deeply regretted”.
The decreased visibility in the nation’s capital affected train operations as well. According to reports, Mumbai Rajdhani train number 22221 was more than one hour late. In the same way, Banglore Rajdhani train number 22691 was over two hours late. August Kranti Rajdhani Express, train number 12953, was also late. With an AQI of roughly 328, the national capital’s air quality stayed in the very poor category.
