On Saturday, July 22, Chief of the Delhi Commission for Women (DCW), Swati Maliwal, alleged that the Manipur government had refused her permission to travel there to meet with sexual assault survivors. On Sunday, July 23, she was about to travel to the northeastern state.
Maliwal vented her frustration on Twitter about the state government’s abrupt “U-turn” and denial of her request to travel to Manipur.

A video that surfaced showing two women being paraded naked by members of a rival group prompted Swati Maliwal to write to the director general of police (DGP) of Manipur on Friday, July 21, according to sources.
She stated in a letter to the Manipur DGP that she would travel there on July 23 to assess the situation and provide a fact-finding report.
Up until July 30, Swati Maliwal was scheduled to be in Manipur.
The head of the Delhi women’s panel issued a letter to Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Chief Minister Biren Singh on Thursday, pleading for immediate action to stop the violence in Manipur and to apprehend those responsible for stripping two ladies of their clothes and reportedly sexually assaulting them.
