According to an official, a charter aircraft carrying 276 people, primarily Indians, touched down in Mumbai on Tuesday after being grounded in France for four days due to possible human trafficking.
At Vatry airport, close to France, the flight, which belonged to a Romanian company, was held for four days on its way to Nicaragua.
The official stated that the aircraft, an Airbus A340, touched down in Mumbai just after 4 a.m. It had taken off at approximately 2:30 p.m. local time from Vatry airport.
The charter aircraft, which was carrying 303 people, was grounded on Thursday at the Vatry airport, 150 kilometres east of Paris, due to possible human trafficking. The aircraft had taken off from Dubai in the United Arab Emirates.
When the aircraft took off for Mumbai, there were 276 people on board, but 25 of them—including two minors—had indicated that they wished to apply for asylum and were still on French territory, according to French authorities.
According to a French news channel, two more people who were brought before a judge were set free and given the status of assisted witnesses.
