Chandan Sand Joins SpiceJet Board As Executive Director

SpiceJet, one of India’s prominent domestic airlines, has appointed Chandan Sand as Executive Director on its board.

The announcement was confirmed by Sand through his LinkedIn profile, where he expressed gratitude to the airline for entrusting him with the new responsibility.

This is the second major leadership appointment by SpiceJet in the past month, signalling its intent to reinforce organisational stability.

A Strategic Move During Challenging Times

Sand’s elevation comes at a time when SpiceJet is navigating financial losses.

Given the situation, the airline views his appointment as a major strategic step to strengthen leadership and improve operational resilience.

His extensive experience across key domains will help the company stabilise and rejuvenate its operations.

Reflecting on his professional journey, Sand shared an emotional note on LinkedIn, stating:

“It is difficult to capture this journey in words—one that began in 2001 as an Executive and has been filled with emotions, changes, resilience, and growth. I have had the privilege of working with some exceptional colleagues and teams who stood by me in every challenge and every achievement. I feel humbled to share my promotion to the Board of SpiceJet. It is truly exciting. Thank you all for your good wishes.”

Over Two Decades of Service to SpiceJet

Chandan Sand has been associated with SpiceJet since 2001, playing vital roles across legal affairs, aircraft acquisition and leasing, financing, procurement, and company secretarial functions.

His long-standing commitment and leadership across multiple operational areas have made him a key pillar within the organisation.

Ajay Singh, Chairman and Managing Director of SpiceJet, congratulated Sand on his appointment.

He noted that Sand’s deep expertise and long-term dedication to the airline make him a valuable asset as the company charts a renewed path forward.

Singh emphasised that Sand’s leadership would play an essential role in strengthening SpiceJet’s future strategy and governance.
