P. V. Sindhu - remarkable comeback
In what turned out to be one of the thrilling match in the history of badminton, India’s P. V. Sindhu rallied from behind to outclass Gregoria Mariska Tunjung of Indonesia to advance to the quarter finals of the Denmark Open. The match was played at Jyske Bank Arena in Odense, Denmark.

World Number 12 Sindhu staged a remarkable comeback to beat World number 7 Tunjung 8-21, 21-15, 21-13 in her round of 16 match. Sindhu got off to a worst start and conceded the first game tamely. Inthe second game, however, she recovered and took a 13-4 lead. Tunjung then rallied to make the scores at 14 all before Sindhu collected six more points and push the match to a deciding game.
In the deciding third game, Sindhu , at one stage, were trailing 10-13 before the Hyderabadi queen took the next 11 points on the trot to emerge victorious.

In the quarters, Sindhu will face Thailand’s world No. 19 Supanida Katethong, who ousted Aakarshi Kashyap in the round of 16. With Aakarshi’s exit Sindhu remains the only Indian in the fray. World No. 38, who upset Germany’s Yvonne Li in the opening round, lost 18-21, 8-21 to Katethong.
Results at the Denmark Open will count towards players’ qualifying rankings for the Paris Olympics.
