If an income tax return (ITR) is not checked within 120 days of the filing date, it will be regarded as invalid. Holders of Aadhaar cards can use their Aadhaar number to electronically authenticate their income tax returns (ITRs). Your cellphone number must be updated with the PAN-linked Aadhaar in order to use this service.

What is EVC Code?

A 10-digit alphanumeric code known as an Electronic Verification Code (EVC) is provided to the taxpayer’s registered cellphone number when the taxpayer files his or her taxes online. It aids in confirming the taxpayers’ identities. Both individuals and Hindu Undivided Families submit taxes under this category (HUF). While Karta must validate the HUF’s records, the individuals are obligated to self-check their own returns. With the Income Tax Department’s e-filing system, an EVC may be created.

You can e-Verify your returns online using:

  • OTP on the mobile number registered with Aadhaar
  • EVC generated through your pre-validated bank account
  • EVC generated through your pre-validated demat account
  • EVC through ATM (offline method)
  • Net Banking, or Digital Signature Certificate (DSC)
