PM Narendra Modi is embarking on a pivotal eight-day, five-nation diplomatic tour beginning today, with Ghana as his first destination.
The tour is aimed at enhancing India’s strategic partnerships across Africa, Latin America, and the Caribbean.
PM Modi’s first stop: Ghana
PM Modi will arrive in Accra, Ghana, on July 2 at 8:00 PM IST, where officials will welcome him with full ceremonial honours at Kotoka International Airport.
He will then proceed to Jubilee House for bilateral meetings with President John Dramani Mahama.
The leaders will engage in high-level talks and deliver a joint press statement, followed by a state dinner hosted by President Mahama.
This visit marks PM Modi’s first trip to the West African nation and is the first by any Indian Prime Minister in over 30 years.
Strengthening bilateral ties
According to the Ministry of External Affairs, India and Ghana will review their strong bilateral relationship and discuss expanding cooperation in key sectors such as economic development, energy, defence, and capacity building.
India has long supported Ghana’s development through investments and training programs.
After completing his engagements in Ghana, PM Modi will head to Trinidad and Tobago in the Caribbean. He will then visit Argentina before travelling to Brazil to attend the 17th BRICS Summit.
The Prime Minister will conclude his tour with a visit to Namibia.
This multi-continent tour reflects India’s growing global outreach and commitment to forging stronger international partnerships.
