PM Modi Conferred With Highest State Honour ‘Order of the Nile’ By Egyptian President

PM Modi is on a two day visit to Egypt. This is the first bilateral visit by an Indian Prime Minister to Egypt in 26 years.

Egyptian President Abdel Fattah al-Sisi conferred PM Modi with ‘Order of the Nile’ award, in Cairo which is the highest state honour during his first state visit to Egypt.

Awards conferred to PM Modi

PM Modi during his tenure of 9 years has been conferred with many awards, ‘Order of the Nile’ is 13th such award. The list of awards PM Modi received during his tenure includes- ‘Companion of the Order of Logohu’ by Papua New Guinea, ‘Companion of the Order of Fiji’, Ebakl Award by the Republic of Palau, Order of the Druk Gyalpo, Legion of Merit by the US Government.

Some of the other awards, PM Modi received from other countries are King Hamad Order of Renaissance (this Bahrain Order-First Class is a top honour by gulf country and Order of the distinguished rule of Nishan Izzudin( highest honour of Maldives conferred to foreign dignitaries), Order of St. Andrews award by Russia, Order of Zayed Award which is highest civilian honour given by Arab Emirates, Grand Collar of the State of Palestine Award, State Order of Ghazi Amir Amanullah Khan which is the highest civilian award of Afghanistan and Order of Abdulaziz Al Saud which is the highest honour of Saudi Arabia given to non muslim dignitaries.

On a Two day visit to Egypt

PM Modi arrived Egypt on Saturday, on his first day of visit he met with Bohras and members of the Indian diaspora where he received a warm welcome from members of Indian community in Cario. He is on a two day visit to Egypt. This is the first bilateral visit by an Indian Prime Minister to Egypt in 26 years.

After landing in Cairo PM Modi tweeted, “I am confident this visit will strengthen India’s ties with Egypt. I look forward to talks with President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi and attending other programmes.”
