Assam Governor Briefs HM Amit Shah On Youth Outreach; Drug-Free Bharat Initiatives

Assam Governor Lakshman Prasad Acharya met Union Home Minister Amit Shah in New Delhi on Thursday to discuss initiatives promoting patriotism, self-reliance and national responsibility among young people.

During the meeting, Acharya extended Vijayadashami greetings to Shah and conveyed birthday wishes to the Union Home Minister.

According to an official statement, the Governor highlighted Lok Bhavan’s efforts to strengthen the spirit of ‘Nation First’ and encourage young people to participate actively in nation-building.

He discussed initiatives under the Centre’s Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyaan, including awareness campaigns across Assam to combat substance abuse and promote a healthier society.

These efforts support the national vision of building a healthy and developed India, the statement said.

Acharya briefed Shah on ‘Namo Matrubhoomi: Rashtriya Suraksha avam Swavalamban Sankalp Saptah’.

The initiative aims to raise awareness about national security, promote self-reliance, encourage a drug-free society and instil a sense of duty towards the country among young people.

The Governor sought Shah’s guidance on strengthening these programmes and expanding their reach, particularly among the youth.

The meeting highlighted the need for coordinated efforts in youth empowerment, national security, self-reliance and inclusive development, especially in Assam’s border regions.

Acharya emphasised the role of people-centric initiatives in fostering national consciousness and collective responsibility. He said these programmes aim to motivate young people to contribute to India’s development while supporting the vision of a secure, self-reliant and developed nation.

The meeting comes amid efforts to engage young people in nation-building and raise awareness about social responsibility, public health and security.

Officials said the initiatives encourage citizens, particularly the younger generation, to fulfil their responsibilities towards society and the nation.
