Election Commission has released the draft voter list of Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of Uttar Pradesh, deleting 2.89 crore voters- 18 per cent- for various reasons out of 15.44 cr total voters in UP.
The new draft list published the names of now remaining 12.55 cr voters, meaning every fifth voter has been deleted.
In the list of 2.89 cr deleted voters, 46.23 lakh are dead, 2.17 cr migrated, and 25.47 lakh were found duplicates.
With 12 Lakh, Lucknow registered the largest number of deletions, while only 95 thousand voters from Lalitpur district were deleted, which is the lowest.
Voters can view their names in the draft list on the Election Commission website, and those who are not in the list can file objections and claims till 6th February, and add their names by submitting Form-6 or Form-7.
The final list will, however, be released on 6 March 2026.
To submit claims, voters can fill out Form-6 and Form-7 for objections; both are free of cost, and no charges are applied. The Commission has also released a helpline number- -1950.
In view of low cooperation in urban areas, a special camp will be organised, the commission planned.
Before Uttar Pradesh, SIR draft voter lists of 11 states and UTs have been released, which saw a deletion of a total of 3.69 cr voters, including all states and UTs.
